What better way to (re)discover Cordouan than with a guided tour? In 2021, the SMIDDEST team has put together a program of guided tours to help you discover the site in greater depth.
Nicolas T. Camoisson, photographer and calligrapher, is invited to take up a residency at Cordouan from May 28 to June 6, 2021. 10 days at the lighthouse, isolated between land and sea, to allow him to feed his artistic creation project on the theme of the sea.
To reveal its signature and assert its values, Cordouan plays it 2.0!
From March 8 to 11, all the networks and other partner channels presented the values of the lighthouse through four video clips. The lighthouse’s signature has been revealed since March 12. For the occasion, our website has been revamped!
SMIDDEST and its partners are organizing, in partnership with the National Heritage Institute, a webinar in honor of Cordouan on Monday, March 15.
During their last inspection, the lighthouse keepers discovered vegetation on the island near the lighthouse.
In light of the developments in the world related to pandemic COVID-19, it was decided that the 44th session of the World Heritage Committee, initially scheduled for 29 June – 9 July 2020 would be postponed to a later date.
We are committed to developing knowledge and preserving the biodiversity of the Cordouan rocky plateau. It is with this objective in mind that a convention between the CPIE Marennes-Oléron (the IODDE association) and SMIDDEST has been established in order to promote this biological richness.
