An educational course between art and science
The SMIDDEST offers a course of Artistic and Cultural Education at the crossroads of arts and sciences for schools, in partnership with the CDC Médoc Atlantique.
The project
In 2023, the CdC Médoc Atlantique committed itself to writing a sustainable Artistic and Cultural Education (EAC) project aimed at the youth of its territory. She wants to work with students from this area affected by climate change, in order to raise their awareness of environmental issues. SMIDDEST is one of the two operators associated with the project. He has been supporting the CDC Médoc Atlantique in implementing this territory project since its inception.
"Perspectives", from the estuary to the ocean coast
This course is built around the artistic work of sculptor Véronique GRENIER. It aims to question and sensibilize children to the evolution of the Nord-Médoc Pointe de Grave and its environmental values. On this peninsula, between the estuary and the ocean, landscapes appear, moven and change.
This course is at the crossroads of arts and sciences. Indeed, the goal is to allow children to learn about an artistic practice (clay work) and to raise their awareness of the issues of their territory. Thus, they will alternately meet an artist and scientists from January to June.
It is particularly aimed at 2 classes:
The CE1-CE2 class from Carcans (work on the coast)
The CE1-CE2 class of Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc (work on the estuary)
In this context, the two classes will explore their respective territory and its different facets (estuary/coastline) to create chimeras. These perfectly embody the transformations and movements of nature (tides, bird migrations, insect metamorphoses, etc.). Finally, the archaeological traces, unearthed by researchers, will enrich this vision: ancient objects, old sandy ports, witnesses of disappeared societies.
